FAA AC00-56B Accreditation

FAA Advisory Circular 00-56B establishes accreditation of a civil aircraft distributor's quality system by a third-party accreditation program, and conveys an assurance that the parts a customer receives are of the quality stated, the appropriate documentation is on file at the distributor's place of business, and the distributor is able to maintain the quality system that complies with the standards set forth in an industry recognized standard, such as ISO 9001. This system involves voluntary industry oversight and participation is strongly endorsed by the FAA.
Distributors become officially accredited to FAA AC00-56B when they appear on the Voluntary Industry Distributor Accreditation Program Database. The Aviation Suppliers Association manages the database for the FAA.
